John Coppola, MSW


John J. Coppola, MSW, was the first and only Executive Director of the New York Association of Addiction Service Providers (ASAP), serving in that capacity for 28 years, providing leadership to substance use prevention, treatment, recovery, and harm reduction service providers in NYS. Mr. Coppola was then Co-CEO of InUnity Alliance, which formed when ASAP merged with The Coalition for Behavioral Health. InUnity Alliance is a membership organization comprised of close to 300 substance use and mental health service providers. After successfully helping to launch InUnity Alliance, Mr. Coppola retired. He is now doing Board work and providing consultation services.

Prior to his role as Executive Director with ASAP, Mr. Coppola worked for Catholic Charities Diocese of Albany for 15 years as the Executive Director of their office in Montgomery County, New York, and as Program Director for their Substance Abuse Program before that.

Mr. Coppola has served in leadership roles on a national and state level serving on multiple government task forces and committees and providing leadership on service provider/association boards and committees. Mr. Coppola has received numerous awards, primarily for his service in the SUD field in NYS and nationally.
