Thomas Kunes, P.E.
Thomas Kunes is a founding Principal with Kestrel Tellevate LLC (KTL), a multidisciplinary consulting firm specializing in organizational risk and compliance assessment and process improvement. For more than 40 years, Tom has consulted with a wide variety of industrial companies on operational and business risk management, process improvement, and compliance assurance. He has expertise in helping organizations analyze and improve existing systems to achieve better quality, efficiency, and reliability.
Prior to starting KTL in 1998, Mr. Kunes founded an environmental engineering company in 1977. He and the management team grew that firm to nearly $90 million in annual revenue with 25 offices across the U.S. serving many industrial companies representing a cross-section of business sectors.
Mr. Kunes is serving as Professor of Practice on the Adjunct Faculty, Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Wisconsin-Madison since 2009, and was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the University of Wisconsin-Madison College of Engineering in 2000. Mr. Kunes has authored or co-authored more than 50 published papers, articles, and presentations on environmental engineering and risk management topics. He is a registered Professional Engineer with B.S. and M.S. Engineering degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
